The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is exploring a partnership with PT Mandiri Banana Indonesia (MBI) to develop the cultivation of Barangan Jumbo Red Banana (BJM). This collaboration initiative was marked by a site visit to MBI’s BJM cultivation center located in Taman Tanah Sareal, Bogor City, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. The FST delegation was welcomed by MBI management and directly observed the banana plantation area, which uses an intercropping system with various vegetables such as spinach, water spinach, peanuts, and jepun beans.

This visit is part of FST UIN Jakarta’s strategic effort to find partners for reviving a 40-hectare plot of land in Tiga Raksa, Cikuya Village, Solear District, Tangerang Regency, Banten Province. Through this potential collaboration, FST aims to develop an integrated farming model that focuses not only on productivity but also on environmental sustainability and local community empowerment.
